The AHIG Committee Neighborhood Business Grant is now open for applications from eligible small business owners across Texas. This microgrant program is designed to support local entrepreneurs whose work is making a meaningful impact in their communities. If you’re a Texas-based small business owner with a strong vision and community focus, we want to hear from you.
What Is the AHIG Committee Neighborhood Business Grant?
The American Heart Investment Grant (AHIG) Committee Neighborhood Business Grant provides microgrants of up to $55,000 to small business owners in Texas. These funds are awarded to help entrepreneurs launch or grow initiatives that positively impact the communities they serve.
Whether you’re addressing local challenges, improving access to essential goods and services, or innovating to uplift your neighborhood, this grant is intended to empower businesses that drive real community change.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the AHIG Committee Neighborhood Business Grant, applicants must:
- Operate a business located in Texas
- Have been in operation for at least 6 months
- Employ 10 or fewer staff members
- Operate a profit-generating business
- Be able to provide proof of business, such as:
- Bank statements
- Tax documents
- POS terminal statements
If you meet the criteria above, you are encouraged to apply and share your idea for improving life in your Texas community.
How Applications Are Evaluated
Applications will be assessed based on the following key criteria:
- Need – Why is this funding essential for your business or project?
- Relevance – How does your initiative align with community needs?
- Urgency – What is the time sensitivity or immediate impact of your work?
- Quality of Life Impact – How does your business improve the lives of those in your neighborhood?

Grant Cycle Timeline for 2025
We’ve adopted a two-cycle grant model to provide faster funding decisions and broaden opportunities for Texas entrepreneurs:

- Applications Open: November 4, 2024
- Application Deadline: February 7, 2025
- Decisions Announced: May 2025

Second Grant Cycle
- Applications Open: May 5, 2025
- Application Deadline: August 25, 2025
- Decisions Announced: September 2025
Note: Recipients from the first cycle are not eligible to apply again during the second cycle. However, applicants who were not selected in the first cycle are encouraged to submit a revised application for the second round.
